RepairIQ

FIG.02

A salvage vehicle bid calculator for trade buyers — repair-cost modelling, auction fee handling, profit estimation and risk scoring before you bid.

// Tech used
  • Backend Functions

    Server-side calculation engine for repair-cost modelling, fee aggregation and profit projection — keeps proprietary logic off the client.

  • Entities

    Vehicle listing records, auction house fee schedules and historical sale data modelled as related JSON schemas.

  • Integrations

    InvokeLLM for parsing listing descriptions into structured damage estimates; SendEmail for bid-alert notifications.

  • Custom UI

    Brutalist dashboard with risk-score gauges, profit breakdowns and side-by-side listing comparisons.

// Outcome

Deployed in 10 days. Trade buyers now evaluate a salvage listing in under 2 minutes with a clear profit estimate and risk score, cutting bad-bid losses significantly.

// Build challenges
  1. 01

    Modelling repair costs from limited auction listing data — photos, category codes and vehicle details — into a reliable estimate before bid time.

  2. 02

    Handling complex auction fee structures (buyer's premium, gate fees, transport) that vary by auction house and vehicle category.

  3. 03

    Producing a risk score that combines repair uncertainty, market resale value and fee exposure into a single go/no-go signal for the buyer.

// Case study

Trade buyers were pricing salvage vehicles from instinct. Repair costs were estimated by eye, auction fees were buried in PDFs that varied by house and vehicle category, and two similar listings could be worth very different money after the real costs landed. A single bad bid could take the margin off a good lot.

RepairIQ turns each listing into a modelled deal. Listing text is parsed into structured damage estimates, repair costs are built up line by line, and buyer's premium, gate fees and transport are aggregated server-side against stored fee schedules and historical sale data. The buyer gets one profit figure and one risk score that combines repair uncertainty, resale value and fee exposure — plus side-by-side comparison of listings and bid alerts by email.

Ten days to deliver. A salvage listing now goes from raw auction data to a go/no-go decision in under two minutes, with the fee exposure visible before bidding, and buyers report a clear fall in loss-making bids.
